MultiNet6G successfully completed

EventProjectDroneportDroneExpert

On June 16, 2025, the final event of the MultiNet6G research project took place at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences. The project was funded as part of the “INNONT - Innovative Network Technologies” funding program of the Federal Ministry of Transport (originally the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure). Together with our project partners - SEW-EURODRIVE GmbH & Co. KG, Koblenz University of Applied Sciences and Logicalis GmbH (formerly SITICOM GmbH) - we presented the project results as well as a live demonstration of our Drone Port on site.

The aim of the project was to develop an open, flexible communication system that bundles various wireless technologies - including 5G, WiFi, VLC and radar - in a so-called “6G multi-network”. This enables reliable, low-latency communication even during technology transitions - a decisive step for the industrial use of autonomous systems.

For Emqopter, the focus was on the further development of our drones and the Drone Port. By integrating the multi-network and connecting it to autonomous vehicles (AGVs), we were able to create the basis for a more efficient, networked logistics infrastructure - including initial approaches to swarm control.

The first Drone Port demonstrator with a direct connection to the building and planned charging infrastructure for drones and robots is currently being built on the roof of our company headquarters in Würzburg.

We would like to thank all project partners for the successful collaboration and look forward to the next steps towards networked, autonomous logistics solutions.
